The Chourakukan Hotel offers guests a rare blend of historical elegance and contemporary comfort in the heart of Kyoto’s cultural precinct.

Purchased in 2021, this boutique hotel is close to temples, shrines and Maruyama Park. The hotel was originally built as a private residence in 1909 in the Meiji Era and gained prominence as a state guesthouse for foreign dignitaries. The name Chourakukan, meaning ‘long enjoyment’, was given to the building by Hirobumi, Japan’s first prime minister. A hotel wing was added to the original building in 2008 and features function, banquet and high tea facilities, Le Chene Restaurant and six guest suites.
